Rabe takes on Poland

MISS Supranational Namibia 2020 Chanique Rabe (24) on Sunday left the country to participate in the 12th edition of the Miss Supranational pageant in Nowy Sacz, Poland.

Other titles under her belt are Miss Teen Namibia and Miss Teen Continents, which she won in 2015.

Rabe has a BA honours degree in fashion, and is currently a fashion designer with her own clothing brand.

She is the owner of Junior Sewing School, a sewing training programme which equips pupils with the necessary skills to become tailors once they matriculate.

Miss Supranational is an annual international beauty pageant, which was started in 2009, of which most contests have been held in Poland.

It is managed by the World Beauty Association.

The contest will be held from 20 to 22 August and will be live-streamed on YouTube and Facebook.

A parallel male contest, Mister Supranational, has also been held annually since 2016.

The current pageant title holders are Anntonia Porsild of Thailand, and Nate Crnkovich of the United States.

They were elected in 2019, but will retain their titles into 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last year was the first year that the contests were not held since their inception.

Rabe will battle it out for the title with 53 other delegates from around the world.

She said she is grateful for the opportunity to represent her country.

“To be Miss Supranational Namibia is something I’m most proud of. I am incredibly grateful to my Miss Supranational Namibia team and everyone around me who keep me positive and motivated, making my journey the best time of my life,” she says.

Rabe says she is looking forward to meeting the other contestants from all over the world, and to learn more about their backgrounds, cultures and religions.

“International travels have been very limited in the last year, so to have the incredible opportunity to not only travel abroad, but to represent Namibia in a country that I’ve never been to, is absolutely exhilarating,” she says.

Rabe says gratitude opens up one’s heart to opportunities to help others.

“My year so far has been amazing . . . I get to meet wonderful people, travel a lot, prepare for one of the biggest international pageants in the world, and I also have the opportunity to grow my projects. I am looking forward to making more memories before the year ends,” she says.
