PWC to audit Land-A-Dollar proceeds

AUDITING firm PricewaterhouseCoopers will on 15 September this year audit for free, the money raised during the University of Namibia’s Land-A-Dollar campaign.

This will be the day marking the end of the campaign after the campaign board decided to run it for one year from the day it started on 15 September 2015. The money collected in drums put at designated points will be counted under strict security.

This was announced by the Unam Land-A-Dollar campaign’s board member Emma Theophilis yesterday.

Speaking at a press conference in Windhoek yesterday, Theophilis said the money collected will be handed over to the Office of the President to be used for the mass urban land servicing project.

According to Theophilis, the campaign currently has about 480 drums countrywide and that the response has been very positive.

She also said the team decided to run the campaign for one year because they spent most of the first few months educating people and sourcing the drums.

“We are currently satisfied with the information they (public) received on the campaign so far,” she said.

She also said they had some drums that have not been posted to any location, and will welcome any wellwishers who come on board and have them at their places.

She said the campaign has witnessed tremendous support from citizens of all walks of life, and urged others to also support the campaign.

“We would like to emphasise that this campaign is for all citizens of this country,” she said.

“The campaign was started by students and we are saying to every citizen: you are either students or you are alumni. Our emphasis is unity towards one purpose that is nation building and bringing an aided solution to the housing crisis,” she said.
