IMMANUEL ‘The Prince’ Naidjala will step into the ring against Zimbabwean Ntando Sibanda at the International Boxing Bonanza that will be held at the Windhoek Country Club on August 3.
This will be the first time the Namibian bantamweight will be going into a 10 round fight.’I am excited about the fight and this will be one of the biggest fights of my career because it will be my first time to go for a 10 rounder,’ Naidjala said.’I am not worried about my opponent because I have been training hard,’ he added.Naidjala is still unbeaten after nine fights, of which five were knockouts. His opponent on the other hand has won five of his nine fights.The Namibian boxer’s last fight was against Ronald Tamani in Windhoek, which ended in a unanimous decision going his way in June.Naidjala said he was not in a hurry to get a title fight.’A title fight should not be something you rush into, at the moment I am building my foundation,’ he said.’My promoter will know when I am ready for that, he will tell me when he thinks it is time.’On the same evening, there will be another international lightweight bout between WBO Africa lighweight champion Martin Haikali and Zimbabwean Lawrence Moyo.Tickets to the event will cost N$100.Meanwhile promoter Nestor Tobias said the ‘Hitman Hits Back’ campaign tour which was held in Otjiwarongo last weekend was a success because of the huge turn out.’We had a good show and we met lots of kids who showed a lot of interest in boxing,’ Tobias said.The campaign is aimed at raising funds for Moses’ world title eliminator fight, which will be held in Windhoek in September.This weekend the boxers will be in Keetmanshoop where there will have a free coaching clinic in the morning and an exhibition fight at 19h00 which will cost N$20.-namibiasport.com.na
