President fires deputy prime minister Ithete

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has dismissed deputy prime minister Natangwe Ithete with immediate effect.

“In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia, president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah made an executive decision to relieve Natangwe Ithete of his duties as deputy prime minister and minister of industry, mines and energy, with immediate effect,” read the statement issued on Sunday.

According to the statement, the president will be taking over the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy.

“In the interest of ensuring continuity and effective coordination within this key sector, president Nandi-Ndaitwah will assume responsibility for the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, effective immediately,” read the statement.
