Police claim father impregnated daughter born from previous rape

The police in the Omusati region are investigating a case in which a man previously convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl is now accused of impregnating the daughter born from that same crime.

According to Omusati police commander commissioner Ismael Basson, the suspect was convicted in 2008 after raping a teenage girl.

He was sentenced to pay a fine or serve three years in prison. He chose to pay the fine and was released.

The victim fell pregnant as a result of the rape and later gave birth to a baby girl.

Basson confirmed that the suspect later took custody of the child born from the rape.

“After some time, the father took the baby to live with him. The victim’s family later discovered that the child had been sent to Angola,” the police said.

The biological mother of the child reportedly travelled to Angola in May this year to locate her daughter.

She allegedly found her teenage daughter with a two-month-old baby.

“She was informed that the biological father of her daughter is also the father of the two-month-old baby,” Basson said.

The suspect has been arrested and appeared in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

He has been remanded in custody until his next scheduled court appearance on 16 March 2026.
