Dear executive management of Gross Barmen, allow me to propose the establishment of an ‘academy of reconciliation’ at Gross Barmen.
Tourist busses stop at the graves of the most prominent chiefs of the Herero at Okahandja, but don’t have anywhere to rest and reflect.
Gross Barmen has a conference facility and a museum, which could be utilised more.
Unfortunately, the recent elections in Germany have shown 20% to 30% of the citizens turning to a right-wing nationalist party.
Thus, it is of paramount importance to ensure visitors to Namibia get the right information.
The academy could also be used to invite the senior classes of the German school in Windhoek.
Once or twice a year, when the Herero people have their special festive days at the gravesites, the chieftainship could be invited for a high-level meeting at Gross Barmen.
Feel free to revert to me in case of any interest.
Yours faithfully,
Andreas Peltzer
