SOUTH African Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Mpumalanga Black Aces is still struggling to obtain the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) of Namibian defender Sydney Plaatjies from his previous club in Angola.
South Africa’s soccer website Kickoff.com on Tuesday reported that Mpumalanga Black Aces’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Marc Grune said that they were still battling to get an ITC for Plaatjies.’Plaatjies is still here. The only problem is his ITC. We hope that the matter will be sorted out before the end of this week so that he can be available for selection for our next game,’ said Grune. The Brave Warriors player was signed by the South African football club in November last year on a short-term contract.Plaatjies has had previous stints with South African clubs, playing for money spinning Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows and Jomo Cosmos. When they signed him up last year, Mpumalanga Black Aces announced on their website that the 29-year-old defender is immediately available for selection, adding that he is an ideal player for Aces. The team had also said that the Namibian player would be pushing for a starting position in the team depending on his fitness level. Plaatjies can play at either left-back or midfield. – Nampa
