NAMIBIAN international Sydney Plaatjies has lost a two-year battle against Mamelodi Sundowns after he was dismissed by the club in November 2009.
The Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) disciplinary committee (DC) said in a statement yesterday that Plaatjies had lost his dispute resolution chamber case after he claimed he had been unfairly dismissed.’The dismissal of the player by the club was not unfair,’ the PSL DC said.It ruled that Sundowns did not have to pay Plaatjies compensation after terminating his three-year contract 19 months early.Plaatjies found himself in hot water in April this year when he was again fired midway through a six-month contract. The 30-year-old midfielder was dismissed by Mpumalanga Black Aces after walking out of a disciplinary hearing.Aces had accused Plaatjies of, among other things, failing to arrive for training sessions and appearing for his national side without clearance from the club. -Nampa-Sapa
