PDM calls on Govt to reject Tanzania election outcome

Popular Democratic Movement president McHenry Venaani has called on the government to reject Tanzania’s election outcome, which saw president Samia Suluhu Hassan declared the winner.

Venaani on Saturday said president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah should reject Hassan’s undemocratic victory and not extend any congratulatory messages to her.

“We call on the government of Namibia to reject the fraudulent election conducted by the president of Tanzania,” he said.

Venaani said the declaration of Tanzania’s electoral commission that Hassan won with 98% of votes while her major competitor, Tundu Lissu, remained in jail is a clear demonstration of election fraud.

He said the PDM stands in solidarity with the people of Tanzania and calls for justice and the respect of democratic rights.

“It is a shame that a friend of ‘mem’ Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Samia Hassan, who is a woman president like madam Ndaitwah […] they are good friends […] but she runs elections in Tanzania where she apparently wins 98% of the votes,” he said.
