The Namibia Institute of Pathology (NIP) has appointed its chief operating officer, Vincent Nowaseb, as acting chief executive officer following the expiry of former CEO Kapena Tjombonde’s contract.
In an internal memorandum issued to employees on Sunday, the NIP board of directors confirmed that Tjombonde’s contract ended on 31 January.
“We thank her for her service to the institute and the contribution she made during her tenure,” the board says.
Nowaseb assumed the acting CEO role effective from Saturday.
According to the board, his appointment is intended to ensure continuity during the interim period.
“Nowaseb brings continuity, institutional knowledge and steady leadership, and the board has full confidence in his ability to guide the organisation,” the memo reads.
The board also reassures staff and stakeholders that the institute remains stable and fully operational.
“NIP remains firmly committed to its mandate of delivering quality pathology and laboratory services in support of Namibia’s healthcare system,” it says.
The board says arrangements regarding the appointment of a permanent CEO will be considered in due course.
