The Namibian Association of Offshore Oil and Gas Service Providers (NAOGSP) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Marine and Offshore Namibia have signed an agreement aimed at strengthening Namibia’s maritime and oil and gas industries.
The three-year partnership seeks to enhance safety, foster innovation, and develop local capacity within Namibia’s growing oil and gas sector.
“By combining DNV’s global expertise with NAOGSP’s local insights, we are taking a major step towards a safer and more sustainable offshore industry,” says NAOGSP founder Knowledge Ipinge.
He says the partnership will also support the development of a skilled workforce through expanded training and certification programmes at the DNV Maritime Academy.
The agreement outlines several strategic initiatives, including the creation of a service providers barometer to monitor compliance, track market trends, and identify business opportunities.
A DNV technical adviser will also join the NAOGSP board to provide guidance and ensure alignment with international best practices.
In addition, the partnership will explore establishing a cybersecurity innovation hub and a flow testing and calibration laboratory at Walvis Bay.
“These initiatives will not only improve operational efficiency but also create new job opportunities for Namibians,” says Ipinge.
