THE Ovambanderu Traditional Authority’s chief, Killus Nguvauva, says the late Ondonga King Immanuel Kauluma Elifas will always be remembered for his generosity and wise counsel.
Elifas died at the age of 86 on 26 March this year at the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital in the Oshikoto region.
Nguvauva, who joined the rest of the nation in mourning the late king, issued a message of condolence on Wednesday, describing Elifas as a leader who was close to his people, a bearer of peace, unity, and who wanted the prosperity of all Namibians.
He said King Elifas developed a close relationship between all traditional leaders in Namibia during his leadership of the National Council of Traditional Leaders.
“We are gratified and honoured to have enjoyed his affection and wisdom during his lifetime,” Nguvauva noted.
He said the humility, devotion and inspiration of King Elifas and his concern for the welfare of Namibia is worthy of emulation for elders and future generations.
The Mbanderu leader added that during his last days, some serious tribulation gripped King Elifas’ subjects and the Ondonga Traditional Authourity. He thus called for the Aandonga to use this opportunity to mourn the passing of their king in unity, coming together and preaching peace.
