OSHAKATI Town Council has re-elected Leonard Hango as its mayor for a period of 12 months.
Hango was re-elected on Friday, as the town held its annual interim election of Oshakati Town Council office bearers.
Fellow Swapo councillor Puyeipawa Elifas retained her position as deputy mayor of the town.
Ruusa Frans, Maria Mutumbulwa and Hofeni Mutota also retained their positions as members of the management committee, while Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) councillors Jerobeam Ndaamohamba and Martha Imene are ordinary councillors.
In his acceptance speech, Hango said the town council had made a remarkable contribution towards strengthening democracy, service delivery and economic growth at the town.
He thanked Oshakatis residents for entrusting them to continue to lead and serve the town and its people, regardless of race, religion or political affiliation.
“It is now my singular honour to accept my mayoral portfolio with bigger confidence and without any reservations, as it was assigned upon me with trust by our residents,” Hango said.
