The Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service announced the temporary closure of the Oshakati Independence Stadium on Tuesday, with immediate effect.
This was announced by the director of sports and development, Jo-Ann Manuel, in a public notice.
“The anticipated rehabilitation of the pitch (lawn) and the upcoming 2024 National Youth Games scheduled to take place in Oshakati from 11-15 September, necessitated the closure,” Manuel said.
Manuel added that the stadium will be unavailable for use until 31 August.
“The ministry sincerely apologises for the inconvenience this closure may cause. Your understanding and cooperation is highly appreciated.”
