The second edition of the Ongos Valley Sevens Tournament was launched at the Namibia Rugby Union headquarters in Windhoek yesterday.
Following an exciting debut in 2024, Ongos Valley yesterday announed the second edition of the tournament, a high-impact rugby sevens competition uniting communities through sport.
“In partnership with the Namibia Rugby Union, this year’s tournament promises to be bigger, with better prepared teams, greater community engagement, and elevated stakes,” Ongos Valley said in a statement.
The 2025 edition will once again tour Namibia with three action-packed weekends of rugby:
The Southern Round will be held in Lüderitz or Oranjemund on 30 August; the Coastal Round will be held in Walvis Bay on 27 September; and the Championship Round will be held in Windhoek on 24-25 October.
“Now firmly established as a national sports event, the Ongos Valley Sevens combines the passion of rugby with the values of community, wellness, and youth development. The 2025 edition will feature better prepared teams, broad participation, and a renewed focus on uniting Namibians from all walks of life through sport,” the statement read.
“Aligned with Ongos Valley’s broader vision of building thriving, inclusive, and active communities, this tournament continues to serve as a platform for promoting local talent and fostering community engagement,” it added.
The final leg in Windhoek will bring the country together for a thrilling two-day showdown that will crown this year’s champions while offering family-friendly entertainment and activations.
