FC Ongos maintained their unbeaten streak with a 3-0 victory against Unam Bokkies on Saturday, to remain six points clear of the chasing pack in the FNB Women Super League.
FC Ongos have now won 10 and drawn one of their 11 matches to date to and are firm favourites to retain the title that they won last season.
They were made to work hard for their victory though by Unam Bokkies, who put up a spirited performance, but Ongos’ quality and experience eventually told.
Goals by Juliana Blou and Ivonne Kooper gave them a 2-0 lead by halftime, before Memory Ngonda sealed their victory with a third goal after the break.
That put them on 31 points from 11 matches, now six points ahead of the chasing pack, but the other top contenders also recorded victories to keep their hopes alive.
Beauties FC beat Arrows Ladies 2-0 to remain second on 25 points, while Khomas Nampol are a point behind, after beating Nust Babes 4-0.
Girls & Goals are fourth on 23 points after beating V Power Angels 4-0, through goals by Mechane Vries, Gloria Kasume, Millicent Hikuam and Shanice Dairies. Girls & Goals, however, have a match in hand, and could go second on the log.
Ongwediva Queens, meanwhile moved two places up the log to fifth after beating Namib Daughters 4-1 at Oshakati, while bottom-of-the-log Okahandja FC got their first victory of the season, after beating Ramblers 2-0.
That put them level with Nust Babes on three points, with Ramblers on six and V Power Angels on eight points just above them, now in their sights.
