One Africa TV presents Namflix Festival 2018

WITH a line-up of 33 locally produced films for the first-ever Namflix Festival, One Africa Television is bringing local viewing to television screens this holiday.

Airing from Saturday, 16 December, to Friday, 28 December, local films are the perfect celebration of Namibian stories and local film-makers, said Taleni Shimhopileni, content manager at One Africa TV.

“Telling Namibian stories that resonate with our people is our passion and priority. We teamed up with four Namibian production companies to celebrate Namibian stories and talented Namibian film-makers on our TV screens this festive season in the first-ever Namflix festival,” she said.

The broadcaster’s chief executive officer Stefan Hugo said: “One Africa TV strives to be a source of positive, proudly African, passionately Namibian infotainment that helps to make the life of every individual it engages with a little better”.

The film festival will feature productions from three organisations making headway in promoting Namibian content that’s driven by authentic and relatable storytelling.

KinoNamia, inspired by the international movement called KinoKabaret, is a group of young Namibian film-makers, directors, actors, camera men, editors, sound designers, musicians, scriptwriters and poets who teamed up for a 48-hour period to produce 28 short films.

Collective Productions, one of Namibia’s leading film houses, prides itself on the ability to take “audiences on an authentic emotional journey through inspiring and well-executed stories”.

Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) was established in 2003, with a primary directive to help raise awareness around social issues Namibian youth face daily through performing as well as visual arts.

Page Ten Productions produces award-winning videos for the corporate market. It’s made up of a team of young professionals who self-fund their passion projects which are short films and music videos.

The films will be aired Saturdays from 20h00 to 21h30 and Sundays from 20h00 to 22h00 with weekday repeats from 17h00 to 19h00. One Africa is available for viewing on DStv channel 284, GOtv channel 9, NBC DTT channel 301 and on DStv Now.
