A man accused of killing a manager at his place of employment and shooting another manager at Ondangwa on Friday remains in police custody after appearing in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Mika Tutaleni (49) is accused of killing the brickyard manager at Henning Crusher, John Myburgh, and injuring another manager, Johan Richter, who was shot in the head.
The police informed the media over the past weekend that Richter was in a critical condition in an Ondangwa hospital’s intensive care unit.
Tutaleni’s case was postponed to 10 March 2025 at the end of his court appearance on Monday.
He faces charges of murder, attempted murder, discharging a firearm in public, threatening to kill and theft.
The Namibian was informed that Tutaleni, who was due to be dismissed for misconduct, allegedly threatened to kill another employee before he shot Myburgh and Richter.
The employee threatened with being killed reportedly signed Tutaleni’s dismissal letter on his behalf.
“He told [the employee] that he would kill him,” a source said.
“[Tutaleni] then left the workplace and returned armed. When he returned, the employee had left, [Tutaleni] then went to the office and shot the managers,” the source said.
Tutaleni was employed as a cleaner at Henning Crusher.
