Okambebe kaHamunyela gets new village headman

QUEEN Martha Mwadinomho wa Kristian ya Nelumbu of the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority confirmed Fillemon Nghipangwa as the new headman of Okambebe village and appealed to villagers to cooperate with him.

In a speech read on her behalf at Nghipangwa’s homestead at the village in the Ohangwena region’s Ongenga constituency last Thursday, Ya Nelumbu told those present that Nghipangwa was also appointed the head of the Okambebe seat, consisting of 13 villages.

According to Ya Nelumbu, Nghipangwa received his appointment certificate as both Okambebe headman and sub-senior headman (seat head) during an official ceremony at the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority office at Helao Nafidi Town on 15 February this year.

Ya Nelumbu’s pronouncement follows reservations from some Okambebe villagers who questioned Nghipangwa’s leadership, labeling him a self-appointed leader.

“Let us work together as a team, maintain a peaceful environment and we must ensure that our children, as the future of this nation, are properly brought up,” Nghipangwa urged his community.
