‘Okahandja Five’ killings docket to be submitted to PG next week

The investigation docket into the so-called ‘Okahandja Five’ killings will be submitted to the Office of the Prosecutor General (PG) next week.

Namibian Police inspector general Joseph Shikongo confirmed this in a statement on Thursday.

Shikongo said two critical statements that were pending in the investigation of the case have been obtained, leaving only one witness statement pending.

“Additionally, the sixth suspect in the matter was located, almost six months after the incident and his statement was also obtained.

“Thus far, 51 statements under oath were obtained, including 14 supporting documents,” he said.

He added that laboratory results have also been finalised.

According to Shikongo, the docket is expected to be submitted to the PG during the course of next week, latest on Tuesday, for consideration.

Those killed are Erikki ‘Akawa’ Martin, Abed Andreas, Marius Ipinge, Malaika Kotokeni and Flavianus Endjala.

Shikongo on Wednesday warned police officers against leaking sensitive information.

This comes after the unauthorised disclosure of the post-mortem report of one of the five victims killed by the police at Okahandja last year.
