The police have opened a criminal case against an off-duty police officer at Ongwediva who allegedly threatened a civilian with a pistol earlier this month.
The officer (42) allegedly aimed his service pistol at the man (33) while playing dice for money at a beer house.
“The accused is also being investigated for illegal gambling,” police chief inspector general Joseph Shikongo said on Friday.
Bar patrons reportedly fled the scene.
A case of reckless and negligent handling of a firearm was opened, as well as charges of pointing a firearm and assault by threat.
