Nust expands with new Kleine Kuppe campus and first Bloomberg Finance Lab for Namibia

Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) vice chancellor Erold Naomab has announced that the university is opening a new campus at Kleine Kuppe in Windhoek.

Once completed, the Kleine Kuppe campus will feature modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, collaborative spaces, and student support facilities, he says.

“This is a significant investment in the future of our university, and more importantly, in the future of Namibia’s youth,” he says.

Naomab was speaking at the official opening of the academic year this week, which also marks the university’s 10th anniversary.

Nust will also establish Namibia’s first Bloomberg Finance Lab this year, made possible through a strategic partnership between Nust, MTC, and the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy.

“The Bloomberg Finance Lab is a game changer for finance and business education in Namibia. It will bridge the gap between academia and industry, equipping our students with cutting-edge skills critical for success in today’s dynamic financial landscape,” Naomab said.

He said this facility will give students and researchers access to real-time global financial data.

Naomab said the transition to a university from the previous Polytechnic of Namibia was a significant milestone introduced by former president Hage Geingob on 25 August 2015.

“This transformation was driven by the need to align the institution with Namibia’s developmental goals, promoting science, technology, and innovation as key drivers of socio-economic progress,” he said.

He said student numbers are expected to double to more than 22 000 since the university’s inception by the end of this year.
