Not only ‘Concerned’ but angry group of Omaruru

Not only ‘Concerned’ but angry group of Omaruru

WE are three of the people whom you refer to as the Omaruru Development Concerned Group in your article in The Namibian news 30 July 2004.

Specifically we, Ernst Naomab, Bethuel Musambani and Skii Wasserfall, Chairperson of the concerned group writing this letter. We are very disappointed by Mr Goseb’s statement calling us puppets. That surely shows his lack of professionalism and total lack of commitment to the community of Omaruru. Why is it that when a black Namibian complains about another black Namibian’s conduct, he is always called a “puppet of the Boers”? And if a white person complains, they are “racists”? We are residents of Omaruru and were born in Omaruru before opportunists like Mr “Gruzi” Goseb and Mr Xoagub even knew about the existence of Omaruru.Omaruru does not belong to a select few like them and their cohorts. We formed ourselves as the Omaruru Development Concerned Group to try and protect the people.Over and over we have tried to make ourselves heard on the issues of concern to all of us as Omaruru residents. Why are we seeing such an outburst by someone who is supposed to be our leader? Our committee is made up of different political parties, there are members of UDF, Swapo, DTA and Nudo and we share the same sentiments which consists of concern about a total lack of transparency because in the time that Mr Goseb has been a councillor, there has been no significant progress in the town of Omaruru.Mr Goseb must know that he is accountable to the whole community of Omaruru and this town is not his personal property for his own benefit. He must not turn away from the issue at hand with his personal attacks on the “residents” of Omaruru. If he does not know his function as a councillor, he is free to ask any member of the Omaruru Development Concerned Group. If he is not aware of the policy of reconciliation, he must humbly request the concerned group for their advice. The youth of Omaruru do not even have entertainment facilities but Goseb and Xaogub spend lots of the ratepayers money on useless things like empty office buildings. Why is it that our leaders are taking all the bread from the table and leaving nothing for the hungry people? Should we not be concerned at all? Obviously we are concerned, hence our existence as the Omaruru Development Concerned Group. We suffered under the old regime and still we suffer under leaders like Goseb and Xaogub. We ask our national leaders to send the prosecutors to investigate these so called leaders.Ernst Naomab Bethuel Musambani Skii WasserfallWe are very disappointed by Mr Goseb’s statement calling us puppets. That surely shows his lack of professionalism and total lack of commitment to the community of Omaruru. Why is it that when a black Namibian complains about another black Namibian’s conduct, he is always called a “puppet of the Boers”?
