All-girl music sensation Nocturnal Souls blew the roof off Vinyls Music Cafe at Zoo Park on Friday night.
The band delivered a high-energy show that had everyone on their feet.
Band manager and founder Amakhoe Gaweseb added his expertise on bass guitar, with ‘Imms’ on lead guitar.
Gaweseb’s talent is rare.
Taught to master the instrument in Cape Town, the Swakopmund-born musician is also a lecturer at the College of the Arts (Cota).
Imms is currently part of saxophonist Suzi Eises’ back-up band and also a product of Cota, where Nocturnal Souls are fine-tuning their craft.
The band was fronted by Peach – a well-known figure in local live performing stages.
Peach came up with a completely different repertoire. Her interpretation of ‘Cheap Thrills’ by Sia and Jessie J’s ‘Price Tag’ received the biggest cheers of the night.
Peach also delivered Oliver Chatham’s super hit of the 1980s ‘Get Down Saturday Night’ and Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’.
Speaking to The Namibian after the show, Gaweseb said the girls were still a work in progress.
“I’m very happy with the strides Nocturnal Souls are making. They are very fast and eager learners. The future looks bright,” he said.
“I would be unfair to the girls if I don’t say they’ve improved drastically from the first show. We are almost near perfection.”
He attributed their progress to tireless rehearsals and the fact that the band members are also getting used to playing in front of audiences.
Nocturnal Souls also performed at the Mr & Miss Namibia University of Science and Technology pageants recently, he said.
