No Vote For Namibians Abroad

No Vote For Namibians Abroad

I AM very disappointed and disgusted by the administration of the Electoral Commission in Namibia! I was at Namibian High Commission in London last week Friday to ask them when we will start to register for the up-coming presidential elections, and I was told by the official at the embassy, that (we) Namibians must go back to Namibia if we want to vote.

I was so disappointed. Logically, it will be impossible for all eligible Namibians to go back to Namibia just to go vote, because we are studying, and working every day.I’m currently studying and I’m studying very hard to pass my degree with a distinction just to make my family proud. What I want to know from Electoral Commission is: * Why didn’t they make provision for Namibians abroad to vote in countries that they are in? * Does the Electoral Commission think this is a democratic way to conduct elections? In conclusion, can the Director of the Electoral Commission handle the job since about 10 000 Namibians worldwide cannot vote in countries they are in? In the name of democracy make provisions for us to vote in the United Kingdom next time!Mervin Areseb LondonLogically, it will be impossible for all eligible Namibians to go back to Namibia just to go vote, because we are studying, and working every day.I’m currently studying and I’m studying very hard to pass my degree with a distinction just to make my family proud.
