New financial services company to open soon

THE JSE-listed financial services group Efficient Group Limited (South Africa) and internationally affiliated audit firm BDO (Namibia) have established a new financial services company in Namibia.

The new entity will trade under the name Efficient Group (Namibia) and will provide a range of financial services including asset management. It will also personal financial advisory services encompassing a number of investment and risk-related products and services.Efficient Group Limited (South Africa) and BDO (Namibia) will be equal shareholders in the new company.’Namibia offers great opportunities to explore and was an obvious market for Efficient Group to expand into,’ Efficient managing director Heiko Weidhase, said in a statement this week.’We plan to duplicate most of Efficient South Africa’s services in Namibia and are particularly excited to have partners like BDO on board,’ he said.Róchel Celliers, managing partner of BDO (Namibia), said the local company has been thinking about entering the financial services market for some time.’However, we clearly needed a particular set of skills to provide appropriate services to meet the needs of our discerning client base, a set of skills Efficient Group undoubtedly has,’ he said. Charl Celliers and Magda Nel have been appointed as directors on the board of Efficient Group (Namibia). Both are partners of BDO (Namibia). Dawie Roodt will act as chairman of the board. Efficient Group (Namibia) plans to start operations in Windhoek early in 2012, followed by expansions to Oshakati, Swakopmund and Walvis Bay soon thereafter.
