Neighbourhood watch exposes crack house

Neighbourhood watch exposes crack house

THE Narraville and Meersig neighbourhood watches, with the assistance of the Erongo Police, exposed a ‘crack house’ at Walvis Bay on Wednesday evening.

After getting a search warrant, a team of Police officers and representatives of the two neighbourhood watches raided a house situated next to the AGS church. A man, alleged to be a crack-cocaine dealer, was arrested in the house. According to reliable sources, the suspect and the house had been under surveillance for quite some time. While the investigators were in the house, two men knocked on the door on separate occasions and asked to buy ‘rocks’.No drugs were found at first, but a cupboard filled with N$63 000 in cash, as well as 6 000 Zambian kwacha, raised the suspicions of the investigators even further. After some questioning, the suspect pointed the Police to the trunk of a palm tree in the backyard, where he removed a matchbox filled with 40 ‘rocks’ of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of N$4 000.The suspect was arrested on charges of being in possession of drugs and drug dealing. He has not yet appeared in court.
