PLEASE allow me space in your good and reliable newspaper to express my sad feelings over how war veterans are being treated in Namibia.
The Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs was the product of numerous demonstrations about the money that was supposed to be a portion of their rehabilitation package from the UN.
It’s amazing to hear someone saying that initiating the projects for them is the best. These are the same persons who failed the veterans for over 18 years now. The veterans endure various hardships and the ones now purporting to represent their interests have been enjoying their salaries and allowances, giving respect only to the fallen heroes and heroines and neglecting the surviving ones.I feel that none should dictate as to what war veterans ought to receive. The projects they want to impose on veterans have monetary value also. And as such the Ministry must come out clearly as to how much it is to allocate per project, so that, if one wants to take cash, it gives an equivalent value to the project. Please Mr Tjiriange, your ideas of projects are too late, and democracy must be seen at work here. Anyhow, why is the first war veterans’ payout to be dealt with by government instead of the Swapo Party? The other states in the world first paid to their veterans the packages paid to them by UN, and then proceeded with their other programs. There have been allegations that someone received the UN payouts to war veterans on behalf of Swapo Party. Can the current UN Secretary General deny or confirm whether Namibian returnees were paid by UN. Don’t tell us there is no money. The DRC diamond mine must supplement. You know what I am referring to.DisgruntledVia e-mail
