NCCI commits to representing all businesses

Titus Nampala

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) says it is working to ensure the voices of both small and big businesses in the country are heard.

NCCI chief executive Titus Nampala says the chamber’s efforts are geared toward ensuring that the voices of businesses ranging from large corporations to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are heard and represented in national discourse.

“The chamber is here to amplify the voice of every Namibian business, big or small, and to ensure that our policy environment reflects the realities on the ground,” says Nampala.

He was speaking to the National Assembly’s standing committee on economy and industry, public administration and planning last week.

Nampala says there needs to be stronger collaboration between government, business and civil society to accelerate the country’s economic transformation.

He adds that the chamber is working towards a renewed vision of shared responsibility in shaping a more inclusive and resilient economy.

“Our mission is clear. We are enhancing brand credibility and deepening trust across business, government and civil society.

The chamber must be seen not only as a convener but as a catalyst for inclusive economic transformation,” says Nampala.

He says there is a need to align Namibia’s economic policies with both international competitiveness and local development needs, particularly in key sectors such as mining, agriculture, finance, tourism and manufacturing.

“Namibia must be a place where international investors find opportunity and where Namibian entrepreneurs thrive,” says Nampala.

Additionally, the chamber has asked for there to be more support for Namibia’s public-private partnership policy.

He says this is the key driver for national infrastructure development and job creation.

“We must strengthen public-private partnerships. This is not just about infrastructure; it is about building a resilient, inclusive economy,” says Nampala.

He adds that co-investment between the government and the private sector could fast-track critical infrastructure projects such as roads, power, water and telecommunications while distributing risks and promoting innovation.

Nampala says the role of MSMEs in national development cannot be overemphasised and is needed to create a more equitable business environment through targeted reforms, support schemes and grassroots engagement.

“No Namibian should be left behind. SMEs are the heartbeat of inclusive growth.

We must co-create solutions that generate sustainable, decent jobs and unlock opportunity at every level,” says Nampala.

The NCCI has pledged to align its advocacy and policy engagements with the National Development Plan, with the goal of creating an environment that fosters growth and competitiveness.
