NCAA issued quality management certificate

The Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has retained its quality management system certification after meeting the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

ISO 9001:2015 is an international quality management standard that assesses whether an organisation has proper systems in place to carry out its work correctly and consistently.

The certification applies to the authority’s aeronautical information management (AIM) unit under the air navigation services department.

“This re-certification significantly boosts Namibia’s civil aviation sector by enhancing the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of aeronautical data,” the statement says.

AIM involves the management and distribution of aviation information required for the safe and efficient operation of aircraft.

The certification confirms that the AIM unit operates under approved systems. These systems ensure work is controlled and accountable, particularly in the handling of aeronautical information.

The standard also evaluates whether organisations have procedures in place to manage quality, identify risks, correct errors and improve operations.

According to the NCAA, the certification supports compliance with Namibia’s civil aviation regulations and International Civil Aviation Organisation standards, which govern aviation information critical to flight safety.

The authority says the certification improves the reliability of aeronautical data, standardises work processes and reduces operational disruptions.

The certificate was retained following an external audit and will be subject to ongoing reviews to ensure continued compliance.
