OSHIKOTO produced a five star performance to reach their second straight semi-final in The Namibian Cup Newspaper by knocking Khomas out of the tournament with a solid 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The boys from the north look the more composed in the opening stages and it came as no surprise when they created the first real scoring chance of the match only to be let down by the wayward shooting of their strong forward Baloyi Tsandib.
A counter-attack from Khomas almost produced a goal, however, a lack from composure first from Jandjamuje Maharero, who missed the ball completely on the first attempt, and Rowan Engelbrecht, who shot straight into the waiting hands of Oshikoto goalkeeper Calvin Spiegel.
Oshikoto started to attack the Khomas goal more and it came as no surprise at all when they took a well-deserved lead after Tsandib attack a lobbed ball from the left to head in the opener with a powerful header.
The second half started like a house on fire with the boys from the city pressing hard for an equaliser but the Oshikoto defence, which was well-marshalled by the no-nonsense central defence pair of Leonard Fillemon and Lazarus Awene.
Oshikoto did well to keep the marauding Khomas attackers out and they switched their tactical approach from outright attack to a more reserved counter-attack in their bid to protect their slender 1-0 lead.
The game worked perfectly in their favour when they managed to add a second goal from a superb counter-attack move and in the process dented any hopes Khomas may have harboured of scoring the equaliser.
Desmond Kharigub capitalised on a defensive blunder from Khomas as he pounced on the loose ball to dribble past goalkeeper Calvin Spiegel before he scored in an empty goal.
Man of the Match: Baloyi Tsandib
