NANDI TJIURUTUENAMIBIAN hip-hop artist Fernando Hendricks, who goes by the stage name NandoHomie, recently released his first body of work, an EP titled ‘BIAS ‘.
The title is an acronym for ‘Before It All Started ‘, and the album focuses on telling NandoHomie’s story, which stretches from Windhoek to Karasburg where he grew up, and even further to Oshakati where he was born. It details his life experiences and memories, his lifestyle and the relationships he’s built along the way.
“Where I ‘m from, a dream is all you have. It’s basically up to oneself to make that a reality. That’s what motivates and inspires me,” says NandoHomie.
Fans can find heart-warming stories on the EP, which notably features the talents of the acclaimed writer and artist Micheal Pulse, as well as award-winning hip-hop and R&B musician Desmond.
NandoHomie says both artists were wonderful people to work with, and as soon as he met Pulse they became friends.
“When Motiion sent me a beat, all I could hear was Desmond, so I reached out and he said yes. Fast forward a few months later the track ‘The Way You Are ‘ was done.”
Desmond was also happy to have worked with NandoHomie, who he describes as passionate.
“NandoHomie is very passionate about music and hip-hop and he never gives up, he’s always pushing and always showing love to other artists. What we did in the studio was nice. There was a good mix of hip-hop and R&B, so I hope the audience can appreciate it the same way,” Desmond says.
Sharing his aspirations for the future, NandoHomie confesses to having a long bucket list for 2022 alone, however, his major priorities are securing a feature with I ‘vory, releasing merchandise to accompany ‘BIAS ‘, focusing on being a father and continuing with his music.
“I always tell myself that my dreams would have died had I stayed where I lived. And now that I find myself in a position and environment where [I get] resources, platforms and avenues to make my dreams come true, I ‘m taking that chance to become a big deal!”
