President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has earned global recognition after being named to the Time100 list for 2026, placing her among the world’s most influential figures and spotlighting Namibia’s rising voice on the international stage.
“The Time100 list recognises the impact, innovation, and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals, celebrating leaders whose contributions continue to shape the global agenda,” Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS executive director Winnie Byanyima says.
She says Nandi-Ndaitwah’s lifelong journey of service embodies a powerful and often overlooked truth, adding that African women were central to the struggle against colonial rule.
Byanyima says the president continues to break barriers, leading an inclusive government and inspiring women across Africa and the world.
She says Nandi-Ndaitwah is recognised as a consistent and respected voice from the global South, advancing equity and justice through international platforms and agreements, including the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
“Her inclusion reflects her steadfast leadership and commitment to advancing Namibia’s development priorities, strengthening democratic governance, and championing inclusive economic growth,” she says.
Byanyima says the recognition underscores Namibia’s growing voice on the international stage, particularly in promoting peace, stability and equitable progress.
