President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on members of Swapo’s central committee to aggressively prepare for this year’s regional and local authority elections.
While addressing a central committee meeting on Saturday, she said the upcoming elections matter to the party as it would determine who will be at the forefront of service delivery to communities.
“The leaders we are going to field for elections . . . will implement our policies and programsme on the ground, ensuring the promises made in the Swapo Party election manifesto are fully realised,” she said.
Party members should collaborate to achieve goals that will benefit Namibians.
“I cannot see how one can enjoy your wealth while others are trapped in poverty. It is even worse when such wealth is accumulated at the expense of others. As party leaders we have to make sure Namibia’s resources are managed in a manner that benefits all members of our society,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said every structure of Swapo party, including affiliate organisations, and every member has a role to play in ensuring the party’s victory.
“I urge the central committee, as a decision-making body between the two congresses, to apply its mind and genuinely take decisions that are in the
interests of the party and the country,” she said.
