Nande wins Central Open

Likius Nande won the Central Open golf tournament sponsored by ABInBev at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club over the weekend. 

Nande completed the 54-hole event with a total of 217, after rounds of 74, 73 and 70. 

He finished well clear of Stefanus Bonifatius who came second on 223 after rounds of 75, 77 and 71.

Laban Malule had the overall best nett score of 217 (73, 71 and 73), while Christopher Durant was the best nett runner up with a score of 218 (77, 72, 69).

Edwin Kutara had the A division best gross score of 223 (77, 74, 72), while Charles Lohmann was the runner-up with 225 (77, 73, 75). 

Edwin Geinub had the best nett score of 218 (73, 73, 72), while Walter Heibeb was the runner-up (73, 75, 72). 

In the B division, John Tsauseb had the best gross score of 243 (76, 80, 87), with Steven Lukas coming second on 251 (82, 85, 84), while Joseph Martin had the best nett score of 218 (73, 75, 70), followed by Alfie Ndyenge (76, 73, 70). 

Elvin Kamana had the best gross score in the C division after beating Melt van Schoor on a count-out. Kamana had a total of 176 (88, 88), while Van Schoor also scored 176 (86, 90).

Duke Beukes had the best nett score of 144 (74, 70) in the C division, followed by Raymond van Zyl on 145 (67, 78). 

Tiaan Grobler won the Stableford division with 70 total nett points, followed by Cornelis Beuke (68) and Johan Grobler (67). 

The tournament saw a fine turnout of 67 players in the A and B divisions, while 26 competed in the C division. Players came from all over Namibia, including Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Tsumeb, Grootfontein, Oshakati and Windhoek. 

The club will host the first of four qualifying rounds of the King Price International Pairs tournament on Saturday, 16 March.
