Namibians have no desire to start own businesses

Namibians would rather work for the government than start their own businesses, the latest Afrobarometer survey report has found.

The survey, conducted in collaboration with Cirrus Capital, asked individuals from different African countries which sectors they would like to work in.

The options participants could choose from were ‘to start your own business’, ‘government’, ‘non-profit organisations’, ‘private sector’ or ‘something else’.

Some 44% of Namibians want to work for the government, 18% want private sector employment, and only 23% want to start their own businesses.

Senegal has the highest number of people who want to start their own businesses at more than 70%.
