Namibian Teen to Epitomise Eloquence in Nigeria

Hendrina Shikongo (19), a student at the University of Namibia, has been selected to represent Namibia in the Miss Eloquent Africa 2021 competition in Nigeria.

The pageant aims to empower young African women and celebrate African cultural diversity.

“This platform gives me the opportunity to live my dream and represent the Land of the Brave, and while at it to positively influence girls in my community and beyond,” Shikongo says.

She describes her selection as a dream come true for someone from the Havana informal settlement in the capital.

“Many smaller pageants have exposed me to the modelling world; not really the exposure I needed, but that is most definitely where I got the idea of modelling from,” she says.

“I began to seek a better understanding of what kind of modelling I wanted to do, and the word ‘pageantry’ kept coming to mind.

“I then decided to take on pageantry, thinking it would be a hobby with all the thrill of being on stage and being in the spotlight,” Shikongo says.

She calls on Namibians to vote for her to bring the coveted prize home.

“I am therefore pleading with the public to vote for me to make it to the Miss Eloquent Africa 2021 finalists,” she says.
