PRINCE Tjiueza was the star of the show as Namibia hammered Seychelles 8-3 in an enthralling 2018 Cosafa U17 Youth Championships opening match in Mauritius on Thursday.
The inspired youngster plundered four goals as the Baby Warriors, champions in 2016, overcame an erratic first half to run out comfortable winners.
His equally outstanding teammate Tyrin George scored a hat trick including the first goal of the goal-fest after just three minutes. Seychelles equalised through Aboudou three minutes later after a goalkeeping error by a nervy Utupuka Kavita, who was replaced by Ikuaterua Mungendje on 20 minutes with the score tied at 2-2.
Seychelles went ahead when Jarrel Suzette scored with a great free kick on 13 minutes but George made it 2-2 two minutes later.
Midfielder Edmar Kamatuka then extended Namibia’s lead to 3-2 with an excellent free kick of his own after 18 minutes but another defensive lapse allowed Pauline to equalise for Seychelles just a minute later.
Cue Tjieuza as he added his name to the scoresheet on 38 minutes to make it 4-3 to Namibia at the break.
With Namibia controlling proceedings, George completed his treble on 54 minutes before Tjiueza went into overdrive.
The nippy No.10 got his second goal of the match and Namibia’s sixth on 68 minutes, before adding his third four minutes later and completed the rout from the penalty spot with five minutes left to play.
Namibia next face host Mauritius on Saturday and Botswana on Tuesday in their remaining Group A fixtures.
