Namibian firm launches virtual reality tourism booth in Lesotho

A Namibia-based technology company, TechCare Group, has launched a 360-degree virtual reality (VR) photo booth in Lesotho, a step in modernising tourism promotion in the region.

The immersive VR booth is designed to allow users to explore destinations virtually, offering an interactive experience that enhances accessibility and engagement without the need for physical travel.

As part of the initiative, TechCare said in a statement issued on Monday that a training programme was conducted for eight participants, including officials from Lesotho’s ministry of tourism, environment and culture and members of the United Nations Development Programme Unipod.

“The training equipped them with practical skills to operate and manage the VR system independently. Participants were trained on key functions including system operation, content management, troubleshooting, and the use of VR equipment, including the Meta Quest 3 headset,’ the statement reads.

The deployment is expected to boost Lesotho’s tourism marketing efforts by providing innovative ways to showcase destinations and attract interest.

TechCare says the project positions the company as a leader in immersive technology solutions while supporting governments and organisations in adopting digital-first approaches to destination marketing.

TechCare Group is a technology company established in 2014 as a specialist in printed circuit board repairs.
