Namibia imports N$1.5 billion worth of oil

IN December, Namibia bought petroleum oil valued at N$1.5 billion, according to Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) trade statistics.
This is, however, a decline of N$778 million. The majority of this came from the United Arab Emirates.
Petroleum oil was also the most re-exported product of the month.
“The top five commodities imported into Namibia jointly accounted for 31% of total imports. Petroleum oils emerged at the top of the list during the month under review, accounting for 13.7% of total imports,” the report reads.
Re-exports were mainly destined for Botswana and Zambia.
Motor vehicles for commercial purposes were the second-most imported product.
The report showed that for December, petroleum oils recorded a trade deficit of N$1.1 billion, motor vehicles for commercial use had a deficit of N$718 million, while motor vehicles for transporting people showed a deficit of N$269 million.
