!Nami≠nus youth forum raises funds for Lüderitz family after tragic shack fire

The !Nami≠nus Constituency Youth Forum at Lüderitz has raised N$2 280 to assist the bereaved family of a father and daughter who died in a shack fire on Wednesday.

The deceased are Simon Fillipus (38) and his daughter, Grace Simon (2), from Lüderitz’s Amilema informal settlement.

||Kharas regional crime investigation coordinator, deputy commissioner Nicodemus Mbango, confirmed the incident.

Youth forum acting chairperson Junior Mutaleni on Friday expressed gratitude towards the Lüderitz community for donating money to assist the family with funeral arrangements.

“The youth forum has a strong responsibility to stand in solidarity with the bereaved family during the difficult period so they do not feel alone,” he said.

The forum spent half of Friday collecting funds from the public.

“Three young people participated in the initiative for unity and compassion,” he said.

Participants wore black as a symbol of mourning and respect, Mutaleni added, calling on the public to donate to assist the family where they can.
