Namfisa has initiated urgent engagements with the Namibia Health Plan to investigate facts and address stakeholder concerns about the fund’s direct claim settlement process.
“Namfisa wishes to inform members, service providers, stakeholders, and the public that it has noted concerns relating to the Namibia Health Plan (NHP) direct claim settlement matter,” the authority says in a public statement issued on Wednesday.
The regulator says it has already started engaging the fund.
“This process includes ongoing discussions with the fund and a thorough review of the matter in line with Namfisa’s regulatory mandate and the applicable legal framework,” it says.
Namfisa further acknowledges that the matter may create uncertainty for those affected.
The authority says it will provide further clarity on the matter by Thursday.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting the interests of medical aid fund members and upholding public confidence in Namibia’s financial system,” the statement reads.
