NAMAs first night… It’s a wrap

THE first leg of NAMAs 2015 came to an end with a banging performance by Blacksheep and a few big and jaw dropping wins.

Kicking off with Araffath performing his hit single ‘Oshiwambo Way’, this year’s industry awards took place in a much smaller and more intimate space. The first award went to D-Naff for Best Gospel which he has been winning since the beginning of the awards.

Araffath took home the award for Best Afrikaans for his collaboration with S-Man who dedicated the award to people from the south where he is from.

Newcomers, Stardust beat the old guns to walk away with the Best Reggae award, an absent Blossom joined the list of winners when she walked away with the award for Best Kizomba. A very pleased crowd broke into a roar when Lize Ehlers was called to the stage to accept her award for Best Rock/Alternative for her song ‘Just Show Up’.

Hip hop artist N.I.A. made a second appearance on the NAMAs stage performing with R B nominee, Lil D. The Entertainment DJ of the year award went to Gospert Kaffer from Karas Community Radio in Keetmanshoop while the Best Entertainment Journalist of the Year award was won by Rinelda Mouton of Informante.

Speaking to viewers at home, the awards were described as very well broadcast and entertaining. Some viewers took to social media to complain about the background music either being delayed or played too early causing a disturbance in the flow of the show.

Tomorrow’s event will kick off with a live broadcast from the blue carpet at 19h30 and will cross over to the main stage at 21h00.
