Nakaambo dedicates award to nation

Robyn Nakaambo

Television personality and brand ambassador Robyn Nakaambo dedicated the award she won over the weekend to the entire Namibian nation.

She won the best entertainment TV presenter of the year award at the South African Basadi Music Awards.

Nakaambo says winning the award marks the dawn of a new era for television presenters in terms of recognition.

“For me to get this nomination among such powerhouses of women in that category speaks volumes. I’m really not taking it lightly.

“This is the dawn of a new era, because it’s me paving the way for other presenters – the ones who are currently there, the ones who are yet to be there – for them to be recognised on this level,” she said.

Nakaambo was also a guest presenter, hosting red carpet interviews and handing over awards.

The event, which took place at the Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa, the awards recognised and celebrated women’s excellence within the entertainment industry as nominated and voted for by the public.

This iuncludes musicians, songwriters and producers, as well as entertainment journalists and broadcasters.

“It’s a win for Namibia at large, the Namibian girls and boys who aspire to be greater than the people they looked up to at home, wanting to be the greatest, not only in Namibia, but in Africa and not only in Africa, but in the entire world,” she said.

Nakaambo said she loves and appreciates everybody who came to celebrate her.

“… the people who prayed for me, the people who supported me in kind, as well as monetary, in terms of votes. I appreciate it all,” she said.

Last month Nakaambo said she had to wait close to a decade before she was nominated for the awards.

The TV personality said continuously working on improving oneself is vital.

“We also need to take note that what we do in our line of work . . . it’s all given to evolving. So, you need to evolve and adapt to change, because our world is constantly doing that, but you can still stick to your moral compass.” – unWrap.online
