Horacio ‘Rassie’ Rietz from M+Z Motors says they partnered with Naudé a few years ago to give back to the community.
In this case by means of an equipped ambulance.
Despite criticism, Naudé is not working for remuneration, and is available 24/7, Rietz says.
“This ambulance is just a new edition to the fleet of vehicles he uses to serve the community for free,” he says.
Naudé says the ambulance will complement his services, as assisting the community on his own is impossible.
“When reaching out for help, M+Z came to the table. That is why they are the main sponsors of the Marshall Rangers,” he says.
“They have seen our work, and without hesitation got on board … It is all about assisting the community, and no one can put a price tag on a life,” Naudé says.
He says during the 2021/22 festive season, the Marshall Rangers tended to several incidents, ranging from quad and motorbike accidents in the dunes, and cases of sunburn, dehydration, near drownings, and injuries sustained on the beach.
He calls on holidaymakers not to bury hot coals or broken glass under the sand on the beach, as many incidents involved people being either burnt or cut.
He also calls on motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on long trips.
The Mahindra 4×4 ambulance will be stationed at Langstrand, Naudé says, and will be utilised as a clinic and in cases of emergency.
The Mahindra is more than a pickup, as its applications include game drive vehicles, delivery vehicles and ambulance vehicles.
