Mushe hits headlines again

LESS then a month after being crowned the Namibia Annual Music Awards (Namas) Artist of the Year, kwaito artist Albert Uulenga, better known as Mushe, has found himself in the midst of a scandal involving his girlfriend who is also his manager Hella Nghifindaka.

In a classic case of he-said she-said, each party has their own version of the events that left Nghifindaka with scratches to her face and 11 stitches on her left thigh. It all happened at around 14h00 on Monday afternoon.Uulenga claims Nghifindaka showed up at his flat in Khomasdal and started verbally abusing him as she suspected him of still being in contact with an ex-girlfriend and being unfaithful.’Hella thinks that I was cheating on her. She went on Facebook and pretended to be me when an ex wrote on my wall, this is why she was angry,’ said Uulenga. He claims that when he didn’t respond to her abuse she became even more angry, grabbed his cellphone and threw it against a wall.’She then went to the fridge, took out bottles and threw them at me.’Only then, according to him, did he try to get out of the flat but couldn’t because Nghfindaka had locked the door and thrown the key under the bed.’She would not stop throwing things around,’ including his Blackberry cellphone and a vase.He claims that he did not beat her and that her cuts came as a result of her falling while he was trying to restrain her and get her out of the flat. Upon visiting the flat in Khomasdal on Tuesday The Namibian found it in a mess with clear evidence of a fight as glass bottles still lay all over the blood stained floor. The Namibian also got in touch with Nghifindaka who gave a very different version of the story. She claims that she went to Uulenga’s flat to pick up some documents. She said when she arrived he was on the phone with a girl, she then took the phone from him. He then became aggressive and started twisting her arm and she responded by throwing his phone against the wall.’I fell onto the bed and he started pulling my legs, so I held onto the railing of the desk next to the bed. He then got on top of me and threw everything that was on the desk on the floor, which included the glass vase, this is when he lifted me up and threw me on top of the glass splinters. This is how I got the injuries on my thigh.’A bruised Nghifindaka was close to tears when retelling the story and said she was still in shock over the incident. She pointed to the cuts on her face and said they were from Uulenga shoving her face into the glass that was on the floor. The Kwaito singer continued to proclaim his innocence ‘I know people will take her side because she is a woman, but in this case I am the victim, I am innocent.’He admits that in the past he has been violent but as Artist of the Year he was trying to become a better example. He said Nghifindaka intentionally provoked him. ‘She will try to twist the story and take advantage that she is a woman and make it look like I am the abusive one.’ Nghifindaka who has suffered physical abuse at the hand of Uulenga previously said she has always forgiven him in the past as he promised to change. She said she will not make that mistake again as it could result in her losing her life. Nghifindaka says she invested so much into Uulenga’s music career. ‘I worked hard to assist him, I bent over backwards for him but he doesn’t appreciate it. I am done, it is not worth risking my life, I will not work with him again.’ she concluded.
