Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) on Tuesday announced the nominees for the MTC Content Creator Awards 2025, following more than 12 000 public votes cast across 21 categories.
The winners will be crowned at a grand finale event in Windhoek on 26 November.
MTC’s chief brand, marketing, communications and sustainability officer, Tim Ekandjo, at the event urged businesses to recognise content creators as professionals who deserve fair partnerships and proper pay.
“We want to see corporate Namibia take content creators seriously, especially those who take pride in themselves and their work, by giving them fair remuneration,” Ekandjo said.
“Because these homegrown narratives will build deeper connections.”
He warned, however, that the industry comes with challenges.

“Just like any other industry, we want to caution that the creator industry comes with its own challenges. Among them are limited brand budgets, lack of access to quality equipment, monetisation issues, and the lack of digital skills,” he said.
Ekandjo also stressed the need to safeguard creators’ well-being.
“We need to guard against mental health issues, given that this industry consists of mostly young people who are often under a lot of pressure to create paid content and take care of themselves and their families in a very competitive environment.”
MTC has committed N$4.5 million over five years to the awards, with N$1.5 million allocated for this year. According to Ekandjo, the company’s partnership with the Namibia Content Creator Awards (Namcca) reflects an awareness of the sector’s opportunities and risks.
“As you can see, we have partnered with the Namcca team, fully aware of the trends, challenges and opportunities,” he said.
The awards include expanded prize categories and values, covering comedy, film, fashion, travel, photography and more. A series of workshops and networking sessions will also be hosted to equip aspiring creators with practical skills.
Martin Pombili, 2024’s content creator of the year winner, congratulated the nominees and urged others to take the leap into content creation.
“Being on the nominees list is testament to your content creation. It shows you are seen, visible, recognised and appreciated,” he says.
“If you are not yet a content creator but you have it in you, take that camera. You might as well end up in India one day like me.”
Public voting is open until 15 November through the Namcca website.
