MOBILE network company MTC has sponsored the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair preparatory committee with N$350 000 as part of its annual contribution to the Ongwediva Town Council, the organisers of the event.
The sponsorship was made during a gala dinner hosted at the town on Saturday.
Of the sponsorship, N$150 000 is in cash and N$200 000 in kind for the remittance of various logistical services in support of the 2018 OATF.
John Ekongo, MTC’s corporate communications specialist, said: “MTC is pleased to sponsor the OATF as it serves as an important forum to exchange business ideas, create awareness and promote trade.
“The OATF has undoubtedly transitioned into one of the country’s prominent entrepreneurial opportunities, for both micro and macro business people of the Oshana region. It is platforms like these that we embrace in order to develop and maintain direct market access and enhance business capacity, while at the same time adding value to our products and services and boosting regional and national economies,” he noted.
The OATF is the major and largest fair in the heartland of the northern regional areas, and draws together business, SMMEs, youth, community organisations, consumers and people from across regions to celebrate the town’s diversity. The exhibition is an important platform which provides organisations with a direct connection to its consumers.
The fundamental element of hosting the fair is for the town council to create opportunities which facilitate trade and business linkages between indigenous market entrepreneurs (not only for Ongwediva, but also for the entire northern regions) with foreign business persons, the organisers stated.
MTC has spent in excess of N$1,7 million in sponsorships to various trade shows, exhibitions and trade fairs this year.
