Missing Mariental woman found dead

The body of a woman (58) who was reported missing last month was found in bushes near Mariental on Saturday.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says the body of Johanna Jagger, also known as Karkies, was discovered between the NLA auction kraal and the Mariental municipality sewerage pond.

She confirms the incident in the weekend crime report that was released on Sunday afternoon.

“Johanna Jagger, aged 58, Namibian female, who was previously reported as a missing person since Sunday, 31 May, from the Donkerhoek location, was found in a decomposed state by a goat herder of NLA while herding on Saturday, 20 June at around 12h15,” Shikwambi says.

According to Shikwambi, the goat herder reported the discovery to the police, who attended the scene.

She says family members identified clothing found on the body.

“Family members has positively identified the clothing as indeed that of their relative that was last worn before going missing,” Shikwambi says.

She adds that the next of kin have been informed.
