Marsha Defies The Odds

After being involved in a car accident last year that almost ended her modelling career and in which she broke both her legs, aspiring model Maria Aron, popularly known as Marsha, is adamant that she will not give up on her dream.

She’s so determined not to let this derail her plans that she walked the ramp at Katutura Fashion Week last year.

“Do you know that feeling when you are part of something big and yet you feel like you do not belong to that particular group?”

This emotion gave her the courage to do what she loves most. “On the other hand, it’s also a good feeling because you get to feel like you again after being hurt, sad and disappointed.”

She believes strength is something one must cultivate within themselves. “My strength comes from self-confidence but it wouldn’t be possible without the help of the almighty God, and the people who believe in me, and push me to do the impossible.”

Marsha started her modelling career in 2015 with AfroCat Agency, at the time touring several southern African countries. During the tour, she was part of the Gansbaai Fashion Show in South Africa, and she underwent training from various international top models who were also part of the event. The same year she also went to Mozambique to walk at the Xai Xai Fashion Show, dressed by top designers from Mozambique.

In 2016, Marsha joined Pro Model and started working with some local designers, including Maria Nepembe and Ingo Shanyenge. A year later she entered Miss Triumphant College, winning Miss Personality and First Princess.

Her goal is to start an agency with other fashion designers in Namibia in order to cast young talent.

“Life is beautiful the way it is and one should never feel left out because of being disabled or other negative things. Life is a designed goal, if you design your destiny, there is nothing that will prevent you from accomplishing what you love the most.”
